The Future of Creativity

How can we cultivate the conditions conducive for creativity to flourish?

Creativity is innate in every human being - part of our essential human toolkit. We find clever solutions to complex challenges, see possibility in the face of uncertainty, and imagine worlds that have never before existed.

Understandably, creative skills are in ever-growing demand, and the rise of intelligent machines is set to expand the possibilities of human creative practice. And yet access to creative subjects is unevenly distributed, and the number of children taking creative courses is in decline. In a time when new ideas and creative thinking are needed most, we face a growing, paradoxical divide.

How is the creativity landscape changing, and what creative skills will we need in the future? How will artificial intelligence challenge our preconceptions around human creativity? And how can it be used as a a tool for enhancing and expanding our creative capacity? How can move beyond the creative dive to cultivate the conditions conducive for creativity to truly flourish?

The Future of Creativity is part of a bespoke futuring dinner series - FutureFeast - curated and produced by Glider & Hard Things To Talk About for innovation foundation Nesta in London. FutureFeast brings together 25 influential leaders, pioneering thinkers and creative disruptors to tackle the big questions of our time. A means of radically disrupting preconceptions, challenging old thinking, and inspiring those in positions of power to lead change.
